Vertical Farming using LED technology

Vertical farming has become reality due to the rapid development of reliable and cheap LED light technology. Vertical farming has a few benefits compared to conventional greenhouses, especially related to a higher land-use-efficiency and the capacity to increase yield due to the exclusion of harsh environmental conditions. We can even increase the quality of food products by stealing plant growth and development using specialized light spectra. In this project we will develop optimal light conditions to grow strawberry plants in a vertical farm and investigate how light controls flower induction, fruit yield/quality and plant defense responses.
